What can I expect for my visit to My Rest?

Check out our page for more information: https:myrest.ca/what-to-expect/

When you enter the clinic, please take off your shoes in the front area. You can also leave wet umbrellas in this area.

If the door to the clinic space (the wood door between the entry and the main clinic) is closed, please enter quietly. Your practitioner will greet you once you enter. If you are new, they will introduce themselves and direct you to a table. There is a basket for you to put your stuff. If you have a large coat, there is a coat rack toward the back of the clinic area that you can use. Your practitioner will have a brief conversation with you and direct you for setting yourself up on the table. Enjoy your session!

If you’re not new to the clinic, you may have a fave table that you can select when you enter the clinic space. Go ahead and make yourself comfortable.

Note that there’s a bathroom toward the back of the clinic space. Last door on the right.

What makes My Rest different from other health clinics?

Our open-space studio offers you a calm, comfortable setting where you have more flexibility for a longer time on the table, should you choose to enjoy more rest time. Your practitioner will also not leave the room, so you can be assured that you can easily signal your practitioner if you need them. Last, but maybe best, is you get to enjoy the joint experience of a healing space provided by having others around you who are also seeking and basking in some restorative time.

What does “open space” mean?

While you might be accustomed to clinics that have a waiting/reception room and a series of separate treatment rooms where there’s one client/patient per room. My Rest offers an open-space studio setting. That means that once you pass through the entry area into the clinic space, there’s one large room with four to six treatment tables. It’s a unique setup that has many advantages, including those answered in question two, above.

What does “quiet space” mean?

Quiet space means that we ask all who enter to use low voices and keep it to a minimum. It’s possible that another person on a table may be sawing logs (snoring), so your practitioner may lightly nudge them if it’s loud or may let them just snooze away if it doesn’t sound disruptive. We play soothing background music, and you’ll hear the shuffling of others from time to time. But quiet space means you can enjoy the chance to get away from the hustle and bustle and let yourself drift.

What if I want a private area for my treatment at My Rest?

While My Rest offers an open-space setting, with four to six tables set up in one large area, you may be able to request a more private set up. We have movable privacy screens that you can request, so ask your practitioner. Please note that it’s still an open space, so there are no private rooms with doors for treatments.

Can I do a walk-in visit?

Yes! Maybe. 😊 We usually have two practitioners available at a time, but they are usually offering different services. And they may be fully booked. But they will do their best to accommodate you, so you’re welcome to check in and see!

Is there parking for My Rest?

The good news is that there is often parking (some free, some paid) on Main Street and along the side streets near My Rest. Please pay attention to the signage to make sure that you pay for the pay parking areas and know the time limits for your free parking areas.

How do I get to My Rest by public transportation?

We’re in a great area for public transportation with nearby bus stops.

Can My Rest do direct billing for insurance coverage?

Sure can! For acupuncture services, that is. Most extended health insurance plans offer some coverage for acupuncture, which may also include cupping or tui na massage services. Pacific Blue Cross, Green Shield, and ICBC do not specify the use of acupuncture needles for registered acupuncturists, while other insurers do require needling be done for coverage to apply.

Be sure to tell your acupuncturist if you want direct billing done and make sure you have your policy details. Note that every plan is different, so we won’t know if you have a deductible, copay (some plans have a 50% or 80% copay, meaning that you have to cover the remaining 50 or 20% difference, respectively), or annual maximum.

If you are getting one of our combo sessions (e.g., Ayurvedic head massage and acupuncture or BBTRS and acupuncture), your registered acupuncturist will submit what is allowable (every plan is different). Please note that we may not know what your insurer will pay until the claim is submitted. You can call your insurance company for details.

Your counselling sessions from our registered clinical counsellor and registered social worker may also be covered by your insurance plan, but we ask that you submit your receipts to your insurer for reimbursement.

Please note that insurers generally will not pay for late cancellation or no-show fees.

I have an ICBC claim. Can My Rest practitioners do billing with ICBC on my behalf?

Yes, for acupuncture. If you have an ICBC claim, you will have coverage for up to 12 acupuncture sessions within the 12 weeks following your accident. ICBC will pay up to a maximum of $118 for the initial visit and up to a maximum of $100 for the following acupuncture visits. You will be responsible for the payment of any amounts exceeding that.

If your acupuncturist deems that you need more than 12 treatments or that you need more sessions beyond the 12-week time limit, they may choose to submit a treatment plan to ICBC to request an extension. The decision is up to ICBC, but we do our best to ensure that you get the treatment you need that is related to the accident. Please note that ICBC makes their decision based on “function,” i.e., what activities are you unable to do because of the accident that you could do before, how the accident is impacting your life, what related limitations continue to affect your duties and responsibilities. While often related, pain itself is not considered sufficient reasoning.

Please also note that you will be responsible for paying for any treatments that ICBC does not cover, and that they do not pay for missed, no-show, or late cancellation fees.

What payment options can My Rest accept?

We accept cash, etransfers, and credit cards. Please note that we cannot accept debit cards. We also sell gift cards (digital version). Etransfers can be made to myrestmainstreet@gmail.com and credit cards are processed through our booking and billing site, Jane app. You can enter your credit card information by signing into your account (or ask us for help).

Does My Rest sell gift cards?

Yes. You can go to this link to purchase gift cards based on a dollar amount you select (maximum $500). Gift card link. Note that you’ll need to have a My Rest Jane app account in order to make purchases, as this allows us to track payment amount and remaining balance. It only takes a couple of minutes.

If you want to pay by etransfer or cash, please contact us for assistance.

What’s My Rest’s cancellation policy?

Because your booking means that your practitioner has reserved that time slot for you, we require a minimum of 24 hours for cancellations and schedule changes. If you are unable to make the changes yourself in our booking site (Jane app), please contact us at myrestmainstreet@gmail.com. You can also text the clinic phone at 778-953-2026 but note that practitioners may be busy with other clients and may not be able to respond immediately.

We charge the full amount for no show and late cancellations.

An exception is if you’re sick because neither our practitioners nor our other clients want your bugs 😉. Please let us know if you’re sick so that we can cancel your booking.

Can My Rest accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility devices?

We would love to be able to say yes to all, but we recognize that our entryway is small, and maneuverability is tight to get in through our front door, so most wheelchairs and scooters will likely not fit. Walkers, however, will fit, and there is a sloped entryway from the sidewalk that allows you to avoid the two steps down. Please let us know in advance if you think you may need assistance.

Are service animals allowed at My Rest?

Yes, certified service animals are allowed. We do ask, however, that you let us know in advance so that we can ensure that others in the clinic are also accommodated, in case of allergies or other issues with animals.
